170) What you look at is the direction of the teaching. What you ask while waiting for answers is its death. The sun rises if you look to the east, not if you call out to it. Wait before you read your steps, the master will measure their depth. Do not be deceived by your comprehension of the answers, they are not your footprints.
171) Those who believe to be the authors of the destinies of others are only the authors of their own.
172) That which seems useful and good is illusion, just as what seems useless and evil is illusion. Both serve in order to know. Don’t deceive yourself, they are not on the same altar.
173) Those who seek have a master with infinite faces: suffering. In illusion, they put masks on it and so do not come to know its true face.
174) When illusion ceases, serenity comes. When serenity comes, harmony appears. Harmony is called wisdom, but it is simply Reality.
175) Illusion causes you to begin to follow the path. It causes you to believe that you are following it, and believe that you have terminated. It becomes your past. Be careful, it’s just a moment!
176) You seek love. Deceived! You are love.
177) Every manifestation has its occult aspects. Manifestation is chaos, the occult aspects determine it. Beyond lies the Invisible Non-Manifested. Said this way, to understand it is an illusion. But at the end of the verse, it is not.
178) You believe in thought. The mind believes to comprehend principles, events and their mutual non-obstruction. You believe to comprehend the origin of life in this manner, but this is nothing but faith in the arid and sterile desert of the mental self. It only leads to an illusory god.
179) Each step you take in order to grow has a different amount of weight. All comings and goings have a still moment. Seekers observe the movement, and lose the Stillness.
